Tubing on The San Marcos River

In celebration of my birthday tomorrow, I'm going tubing with Andy and Kelly today on the San Marcos River. It is Kelly's birthday tomorrow too so this is a joint celebration.

Afterwards, when Amy gets home from work we are going to have dinner at our house. I picked up two sets of dinner for two at Central Market yesterday when I was picking up the sandwiches for Annie Get Your Gun. Kelly is bringing desert.

While I was at Jerry's Art-o-Rama yesterday, I picked out a gift for Kelly. I bought her some Dewert Watercolor pencils, watercolor paper, and a water color brush that holds its own water. Kelly is a wonderful artist and does really good work in pen and ink and pencil. I hope she enjoys the watercolors.

I'm taking off from work tomorrow. Amy and I are going down to San Antonio. I want to go to the Yarn Barn and pick up a set of the Denise Knitting Kit. And stop at the outlet mall in San Marcos on the way home. Good thing it is my birthday because Amy is going to be so bored!!! But she is a good sport!!!

Annie Get Your Gun At Zilker Hillside Theater

I'm off to Zilker park to go see Annie Get your Gun with Amy. We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary which was on Thursday. Wow!!!

I went to Central Market today to pick up sandwiches and salads and some cookies. Yummy!!!

It is hot, hot, hot today. Right now it is 95 degrees. We will be lucky if it gets down to 90 degrees by show time which is at 8 PM. I'll be looking for shade!!!

Another Knitting Class - Yeah!

I'm on week two of a Sweater Knitting class at Hill Country Weavers.

Last week was a bit hectic. I spent the whole two hours trying out patterns, looking for yarn, doing a guage swatch, finding out the yarn wouldn't work, and starting over again. I went through four patterns before I found one that would worked.

But before I did, I almost gave us thinking it just might not be the right time for me to take a sweater knitting class. Heck, I just learned to knit in May, and every one else is so much better than me, and blah, blah, blah. That is when HP showed me the Rowan pattern and I knew she wanted me to continue to take the class and to stop feeling sorry for myself and being a drama queen!!!

Anyway, the teacher's name is Lisa Mason and she is very patient and knowledgable and fun. I'm learning a lot from her and the other ladies in the class. I am the least experienced knitter in the class though. But that is okay!!! It is fun. The back is almost halfway done.

Art Fiesta Fun

Stampboard Pin Made At Art Fiesta Posted by Picasa

Kristi and I had a great time at Art Fiesta, although we both agreed that last year seemed bigger, with more vendors. But maybe it was the fact that it was held at a bigger place and so the vendors were more spread out.

I was disappointed that Stampland didn't make it to the convention. They sell Marvy Matchable Ink Pads and I had hoped to buy some stamp pads and reinkers.

Oh well!! I did get some other great stuff. I bought 12 new colors of Twinkling H20s. One set can be used for flesh tones. I'm planning on doing "Faces" as a theme for a postcard swap on the Raw Art Yahoo! Group next month so these will be great for that. I bought watercolor paper that I can cut to postcard size too.

Also, I bought a set of Stampboard which has a clay finish on it. In the pin I made above, I used a direct-to-paper technique to apply the first layer of ink. Then I used Color Box Tool with foam pads to apply the remaining darker blue inks. The face is stamped in black. Then I went back in with a pointed tool to scrap out the white areas to give it depth. The Stampboard is made specifically do be able to do this. It is made by the same company that makes Clayboard for artists. Stamp Anontio had several make-and-take project areas and this was by far the most fun.

They also had a bottle cap make-and-take, where you used a 1-inch round punch to punch out a picture. You put that in the bottle cap and fill with Diamond Glaze. Easy and fun!!!

Finally, I made a Christmas Themed Tag from shipping tags. I plan on using this in a Holiday theme altered book I'm working on this month in an Altered Book Round Robin.

We stopped at Herbert's Taco Hut in San Marcos for lunch on the way back home. Mmmmm! Chicken Taco Dinner, my favorite. But now I need a nap!!

Art Fiesta

Today I'm off with my friend Kristi to San Antonio to go to Art Fiesta, a paper art convention hosted by Stamp Antonio.

I've been using the set of Twinkling H20's I have in my Flower Study pieces. They are a watercolor paint with mica in them. You can't tell from the scans, but the paint shimmers. I just love it!!! I'm hoping to buy some more colors today.

I also wrote down a list of the Marvy Matchable ink pads I have. I need some reinkers for the pads I have and some pads for reinkers I have. I really don't need more stamp pads. I really have plenty!!! But can you really have too many? :)

And I'm sure there will new art supplies that I'll want too!!! And rubber stamps! Even though I'm trying to do more of my own art designs, I love stamping!
